Mae Hong Son : A Small City on the Northern Boundary of Thailand

Mae Hong Son is in northern Thailand. Just in the mountains that are close to the Myanmar border. To get here, you can use a plane directly from Bangkok, by first transiting in Chiang Mai.

For those who have watched the movie The Melody (2012), surely I really want to come to Mae Hong Son. In the film Mae Hong Son looks very charming with its charming landscape, away from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

Well, there are a number of places you must visit in Mae Hong Son. Some of them are Pang Tong Palace, Wat Jong Kham, and several other interesting places!

Pang Tong Palace

Many people think this place is like a royal palace or something. But apparently it is not, this is a kind of royal family project created for agricultural research and development centers in the Mae Hong Son area.

So it's actually not a tourist place either. But many tourists stop to rest here because the atmosphere is pleasant.

The area is quite spacious and must use a vehicle to explore it. There are flower gardens, orchards and cute animals. Like these sheep.

Phuklon Country Club Health Mud Spa

Here is what most people wait for. If your face is similar to a oil refinery that is leaking, glossy and full of blackheads, you should try spa with this mud.

So the mud comes from hot springs around the rice fields in Mae Hong Son. This mud is believed to have a positive effect on facial skin. That said, the mineral content is similar to the mud from the Dead Sea.

For the full body mask it costs around 1200 baht. But if only for the face only a few hundred baht.

While waiting for the mud to dry in advance, you can sit in one of the ponds with a natural hot spring to relax the leg muscles.

Wat Jong Kham

After Mud Spa, if your face feels 10 years younger. Very fitting for the photos, Yeah !. Then you have to borrow northern Thailand traditional clothes at a borrowing place or local people and are ready to take cool photos!

The clothes are similar to Chinese clothes, even more like Muslim clothes. Working at Wat Jong Kham. This Wat Jong Kham was built in 1827, this temple is the oldest temple in Mae Hong Son.

Look at the beauty of the temple's golden color!

Mae Hong Son is really quiet compared to Bangkok or Chiang Mai. Foreign tourists are rarely seen, because Mae Hong Son is more popular with domestic tourists (which are also not many).

So if you like a cool little town in the mountains. There is no excessive noise. Exploring is enough for cycling or walking. So for those who have often been to Bangkok or Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son can be an interesting alternative.
